Glossary: shared content is linked content that points at an existing content list, or specific items in it, so one change updates every place it is used.
Shared content is linked content that points at a content list that already exists in your instance. A field can link to the entire list, or to specific items from it, in which case the selected IDs are stored in a separate, usually hidden, field.
Use shared content when the same content is reused across many items, components or pages, such as categories, tags or an author. When a shared item changes, it changes everywhere it is used.
