Agility CMS: May 2025 Update

The focal point for the May 2025 Agility CMS update is…Focal Point. And other enhancements to make image editing as easy and intuitive as content editing.

Focal Point

This highly requested feature was included in our Product Roadmap and is now available in Agility CMS. With Focal Point, you can define the centre of attention for the viewer to look at. Let Lead Frontend Developer Derek Lo show you how it works.

Setting a focal point with Focal Point is easy:

• Upload an image to Agility CMS.
• Open the image in the Enhanced Image Editor (more on that below).
• Click and set a focal point.
• That’s it, you’re done.

Now, whenever the platform crops, resizes, or responsively displays that image, the important part – the focal point – is always centered.

Enhanced Image Editor

As mentioned earlier, there’s now an Enhanced Image Editor inside Agility CMS. Once again, here’s Derek and a video showing it in action:

With the Enhanced Image Editor, you’ll be able to set global conventions for your images, including:

• File names.
• Alt text/keywords.
• Meta titles.

Setting global conventions is available for newly uploaded images or images already published and live on your website. The changes occur instantly once you push them live. For renaming files, this could break existing links. But don’t worry, we’ve incorporated a warning screen beforehand.                                                                       

Plus, it’s easier for you to perform already available imaging editing capabilities, such as cropping and resizing images, flipping and rotating images, and duplicating images as needed.

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words…and Even More Clicks and Engagement

Including images on your website and blog posts get 650% higher engagement than text only content. Visual content can increase website traffic by 400% and are processed 60,000 times faster than text.

Lastly, if you’re operating an eCommerce website, 60% of people are more willing to purchase if an item has an image associated with it.

All that to say, images matter. And with Focal Point and the Enhanced Image Editor, you can make them matter to who matters most: your website visitors.
