# GraphQL API

The **GraphQL API** is an alternative to the REST Fetch API. You select exactly the fields you need, run several queries in one request, and filter and sort on related content through linked content fields.

Every instance has a GraphQL schema generated from its content models, and you can query both published and staging content. Container lists return 50 items by default, so pass `take` (up to 250) when a list can be longer.
