Case Study: Living Arts Centre

The Living Arts Centre, located in Mississauga’s City Centre, serves as a performance outlet for dozens of Mississauga arts organisations and community cultural groups. Since the Centre opened in 1997, more than 5 million people have visited the Living Arts Center, and it has become an important resource for the arts, education and business within the Greater Toronto Area. The Centre features over 225,000 square feet of multiple performances venues, studio spaces and exhibition display areas.

From performance of local, national and international artists and entertainers, to business and conference events, to intriguing art exhibits and community classes in a variety of arts and crafts, the Living Arts Centre is a destination for people from all walks of life.

The Living Arts Centre started rebuilding its website on Agility CMS beginning in mid-2014. The site launched in early 2015.

Scheduling content

A top priority of the Living Arts Centre’s website rebuild was to design a responsive solution that could be optimally consumed across different devices – desktop, mobile and tablets.

The new Living Arts Centre website had to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarian with Disabilities Act (AODA), legislation that mandates a set of guidelines to ensure websites are accessible and user-friendly for those with disabilities. The legislation kicked in on January 1, 2014. If a public website is launched or significantly refreshed, the website and its content (published after January 1, 2012), must follow the World Wide Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
